Hi I’m Alina, and I’m a firm believer that we can have it all. Just as our lives are a compromise between family, friends and careers, so should our diets be a compromise. In our society, we so easily feel pushed towards both black and white; towards both cheese fries and weight-loss regimens. The result is guilt. We have guilty pleasures and we have “cheat” days and we stop thinking of food as food. I myself have of course fallen into this spiral many times.

So what do I suggest we do about it? (1) I suggest that every week, we make and eat delicious clean meals/snacks that make us love our food and our bodies. (2) I suggest that every week, we make and eat delicious comfort meals/snacks that make us happy in their own way. (3) I suggest that every week, we work to not treat these meals/snack as remedies for our feelings or as rewards for our actions. Instead I suggest that we avoid assigning so many emotions to the foods we eat and starting treating our food as just that: food.

But what is food? I subscribe to Michael Pollan’s school of thought, that if my great-grandmother wouldn’t recognize it as food, than it’s not food. As Pollan says, “When you pick up that box of portable yogurt tubes, or eat something with 15 ingredients you can’t pronounce, ask yourself, what are those things doing there?”.

So when I say that I believe that we can have it all, what I mean is that if we put more love and thought into our food, we can have our roasted kale salad and eat our bacon too. If we eat real food, go local/homemade/organic when possible, and promote balance in our diets, I think we can be much happier with our bodies and with ourselves.

I try to bring you a mix of clean and comforting meals that run the gamut from savory to sweet. I’m a self-taught food and photography lover and test all of my recipes at least once before bringing them to y’all. All creations and food/travel photography are my own, unless otherwise noted. Please do not use my photos or recipes without citing properly.

If you are a brand looking for recipe creation, food styling and photography or just need more “followers” on your instagram feed, I can probably help you out. If you would like me to feature your products, I can probably help you out with that too. Feel free to get in touch with me at [email protected] To check out our privacy policy, click here.

Since I also love travel and fashion, I post city guides, travel tales, and/or fashion picks on Tuesdays for your enjoyment. In my “Latest Favs” section (posted on Thursdays), you’ll find links to my weekly favorites, whether it be songs, recipes, tv shows, or some of the random buzzfeed articles I spend too much time reading.
